James Earl Todd: Loris
James Earl Todd of Loris passed away Friday, Nov. 15 at his home following an illness. He was 88.
Born on Sept. 20, 1925 in Lumberton, he was the son of Mr. William Anson Todd and Mrs. Annie Victoria Stogner Todd.
A United States Marine Corps veteran of WWII, Mr. Todd served his country with courage, honor and distinction in both the South Pacific and Japan. Mr. Todd was a retired farmer and a longtime and active member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and many other offices and committee’s throughout his lifetime.
Survivors include his two sons, Jimmy Wayne Todd and wife, Lisa, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Robert Anthony “Tony” Todd and wife, Laura, of Loris; daughter-in-law, Melissa Tyler Todd of Loris; sister, Evelyn T. Gibbons of Florence; five grandchildren, Caroline Todd of Lawrenceville, Ga., Brittany Todd Mitchell and husband, Joshua of Fairmont, Anson Todd, Ethan Todd, and Addison Todd all of Loris; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob Hopkins, Jaya and Joslyn Mitchell.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Todd was predeceased by his wife, Clara Belle Todd; one son, Billy Todd and his daughter, Carol Ann Todd.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18 at Beulah Baptist Church. Committal services with military honors followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens. Pastor Joshua Bellamy and Reverend Thelton Powell officiated.
