Vernon Bryant Gurganus: Clarendon

    Vernon Bryant Gurganus of Clarendon died Monday, Nov. 25. He was 79.
     He was the son of the late Bert Pierson Gurganus and Ollie Jane Singletary Gurganus. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Clarendon.
    Mr. Gurganus was preceded in death by three brothers:  Owen Gurganus, Lee G. Gurganus, Elbert P. Gurganus;  four sisters: Mary Gaskins, Vera Fowler, Velma Tyrce and Vivian Merrill.  
    He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Gurganus;  one son: Robert “Kent” Gurganus and wife Sheryl of Clarendon;  one daughter: Teresa Triplett and husband Bill of Clarendon;  one sister: Ithean Bullock of Clarendon;  and three grandchildren: Edward Bryant Triplett of Durham, John Michael Triplett of Mt. Pleasant, and Jenifer Inman of Elizabethtown.
    Visitation was planned from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28 in Inman Funeral home in Tabor City.
    Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Friday, Nov 29 in  Bethel United Methodist Church in Clarendon, with burial to follow in the Bethel Memorial Cemetery.
