Attorney Jorgensen dies in crash

By DEUCE NIVEN

Ralph G. Jorgensen, an attorney in Tabor City for more than four decades, died in a one-vehicle crash in eastern Columbus County Thursday night, Sgt. John Lewis of the North Carolina Highway Patrol said Friday. He was 76.
“We don’t think the crash killed him,” Lewis said. “We suspect a heart attack or some other medical condition.”
Jorgensen’s mini-van left the westbound lane of U.S. 74-76 near Dew Oil Plant Road about 7 p.m., struck a parked car and rolled over. Jorgensen was alone in his vehicle, and was returning to Tabor City after attending a meeting in Wilmington, Lewis said.
