Douglas D. Grainger: Loris

Douglas D. Grainger of Loris passed away Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Loris Extended Care Facility following an illness. He was 82.
Born on March 11, 1931 in Green Sea, he was the son of Mr. Mack Mahon Grainger and Mrs. Mary G. Grainger.
Mr. Grainger served his country with courage and honor in the United States Army Air Force. Throughout his life he worked in real-estate, owned a farm supply business, a used car lot and a grocery store in Tabor City.
Mr. Grainger was also a retired farmer, a life member of Loris Lodge #205 AFM and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, but he will be most remembered by his family as a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Kauffman and husband, Dutch of Manning, SC and Katherine Pugh and husband, Daryl of Fair Bluff; one son, Austin Grainger and wife, Bethany of Asheville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Grainger was predeceased by his wife, Jo Ann Shelley Grainger and his brother, Fred P. Grainger.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor David Watts officiating. Committal services, with Masonic Rites conferred by Loris Lodge #205 AFM, were to follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
