Retha Mae Jacobs Hardee: Longs

Retha Mae Jacobs Hardee of Longs passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17 at her home following an illness. She was 93.
She was the widow of the late C. Oree Hardee.
Mrs. Hardee was born on Sept. 19, 1920 in Loris, to Mr. Isaac Plowden Jacobs and Mrs. Susie Wilma Little Jacobs. Mrs. Hardee was the lunchroom supervisor for many years at Sweet Home Elementary School and was a longtime member of Mt. Leon Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Betty H. Brooks and husband, Gerald and Patsy H. Smith and husband, Billy; her son, Willie C. “Bill” Hardee and friend, Janet Graham; grandchildren, Barry Brooks and wife, Dawn, Kelly B. Strickland and husband, Jay, Christie Smith, Sandee S. Brown and husband, Richard, Curtis Hardee and Sonya Hardee; great-grandchildren, Reese Brooks, William Brooks, Jason Guion Brooks, Jordan Guion Brooks, Ashton Alford and husband, Justin, Jayson Strickland, Eric Rion, Brandon Rion, Savanna Brown, Olivia Brown, Uriah Denton and Dean Denton; one great-great-grandchild, Levi Hardee Denton; sisters, Delma J. Goforth and Lois Bellamy and husband, Donald and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much and were so good to her.
Mrs. Hardee was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her brothers, Raleigh Jacobs and Ernest Jacobs and daughter-in-law, Vivian T. Hardee.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to the staff of Beacon Hospice and Caregivers of SC and especially to April Hester and Judy Suggs for the love and compassion shown to them during their time of need.
Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21 at Mt. Leon Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Stevens officiating. Committal services were to follow at Buck Creek Cemetery.
Visitation was planned for 1:30 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday, Dec. 21 at Mt. Leon Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
