George Thomas Norris: Clarendon

    George Thomas “Tommy” Norris of Clarendon died Tuesday, Jan. 7 in Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville. He was 75.
      Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Horace Norris and Eva Todd Norris.  
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred N. Long and Joyce N. Wisniewski.
    He is survived by his wife, Maggie Smith Norris; daughter, Lisa Norris Williams and husband Barry of Clarendon; one grandson, Zack Williams of Clarendon; two special sister-in-laws, Faye Taylor and Margaret Strickland, both of Whiteville; many nieces and nephews.
     Mr. Norris worked as a Department Head for National Spinning for 32 years. He owned and operated 701 Antiques. The last several years he enjoyed gardening, working in his gourd business and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon.     ?
     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 10 in Sweet Home Baptist Church in Clarendon, with burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
    Visitation was planned for one hour prior to the service in the church.
