Election’s sworn

    Joann Garrell (right) was sworn as the newest member of the Columbus County Board of Elections on Monday, flanked by husband Lewis as Clerk of Court Sheila Pridgen administered the oath.
    Garrell, a Republican from Chadbourn, follows Brenden Jones of Tabor City in the seat. Jones resigned last fall.
