Marie H. Rankin: Loris

    Marie Hardee Rankin of Loris, age 91, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Loris Extended Care Center following an illness. She was 91.
    Born on April 15, 1922 in Conway, she was the daughter of Mr. Fletcher Stanley Hardee, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Alta Anderson Hardee.
    Mrs. Rankin was a teacher for 38 years with the Horry County School system and always instilled a love of learning and exemplary moral character in all of her students. She was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society for many years, a friend to all who knew her, a loving mother and a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Loris.
    Survivors include her daughter, Jo Marie Rankin of Loris; two brothers, Francis F. Hardee of Conway and Robert A. Hardee and wife, Joann of Wendell, NC and many loving nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rankin was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Joseph “Joe” Ross Rankin and two brothers, Fletcher Stanley Hardee, Jr. and Paul R. Hardee.
    Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 at the First Presbyterian Church of Loris with Pastor Dr. Tim Osment and Reverend Ray Hardee officiating. Committal services will be private.
    Visitation was planned from 2 p.m. until the time of service Saturday, Jan. 25 at the church.
