Peggy A. Edge: Loris

    Peggy A. Edge of Loris died peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 23 at the Loris Extended Care Center. She was 79.
    Born in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Purley and Sallie Lee Edge.
    Peggy graduated from Loris High School in 1952 and from Winthrop College in 1954. She was employed by the former Marlene Industries in Loris; and held various office positions during her many years at the company.
    Surviving is a sister, Edna Earl Parker of Murrells Inlet, a nephew, Edward C. Trafford and wife, Susan of Manheim, Pa., two grandnephews, Andrew C. and Daniel R. Trafford; three grandnieces, Toni Thomas, Jami Arnt, Jeni Neiles; five great grandnephews, one great grandniece, and many cousins.
    Preceding her in death was a sister, Lucille Trafford and a brother, Purley Edge Jr.
    Peggy will be remembered for her love and faithfulness to God, family, and friends. She was known as a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was blessed to be able to lovingly care for her parents during their illnesses.
    She was an active member at her church, First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach and the Order of the Eastern Star, Loris Chapter 106.
    Peggy enjoyed her annual spring trips with several dear friends and spending time in Florida and the mountains with family and friends. She always welcomed family to Loris and North Myrtle Beach to share her love of the beach that created many wonderful memories.
    Peggy had a beautiful singing voice and serenaded her grand nieces and nephews on their birthdays as well as her friends on various occasions! She will always be “Our Sunshine!”
    The family wishes to thank the staff of Loris Extended Care Center for the wonderful care and support given over the past years for Peggy.
    Visitation were planned from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31 with Eastern Star Funeral Rites conferred by the Loris Chapter 106 Order Of The Eastern Star at 8 p.m.
    Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1 at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, 200 Highway 17 South, North Myrtle Beach. Pastor Dr. John Gambrell will officiate. Committal services will follow in the Ocean View Memorial Cemetery.
    The family request that memorials, in Peggy’s memory, be made to the First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, 200 Hwy. 17 South, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
