Rapidly warming temperatures clearing roadways throughout the area prompted the lifting of a State of Emergency for Columbus County at mid-morning Friday.
Temperatures should approach 60 degrees today and Saturday, near 70 on Sunday with rain chances on the rise through mid-week next week, National Weather Service forecasters say.
A wreck east of Loris on Thursday, that appeared a result of icy conditions then on SC 9 Business, was not as bad as originally reported. A truck damaged the sign at the Third Base Bar & Grll, and ran into the building, apparently causing mostly cosmetic damage to the structure.
