Green Acres shooting victim dies

By DEUCE NIVEN

TABOR CITY—A shooting in the Green Acres community Sunday afternoon left a Clarendon man dead and investigators with few leads, Capt. David Nobles of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said.
Richard Jason McPherson, 29, of the 900 block of Mollie Road, died of an apparent gunshot wound to the chest, Nobles said.
Deputies located McPherson in a car on Swamp Fox Hwy East at Kenny Jordan Road about 4:30 p.m., about a mile from where the shooting apparently took place, in the 500 block of Pine Circle Drive in the Green Acres community, Nobles said.
McPherson had been driving the car when he was shot, and was not alone in the vehicle, Nobles said.
McPherson was taken by Tabor City Emergency Services ambulance to McLeod Loris hospital in Loris, SC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, Nobles said.
An autopsy will be conducted Monday.
