Columbus Schools closed Tuesday, decision delayed in Horry

Expected weather impact forecast from the National Weather Service

Winter weather is making an ugly return to the Tabor-Loris Community and well beyond beginning tomorrow, with a Winter Storm Warning issued Monday prompting the Columbus County and Whiteville City school systems to cancel Tuesday classes.
Horry County school leaders said they will make a decision before dawn on Tuesday relating to classes there.
National Weather Service forecasters in Wilmington said rain would begin late Monday into Tuesday morning, when a “wintery mix will be dominated by freezing rain across inland areas by late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.”
Icing may be “significant” in inland areas, and power outages are expected in Robeson and Bladen counties and points to the north and west.
Important to the Tabor-Loris Community is the freezing line, which forecasters expect to “become situated right near the cost for a portion of the event.”
