James H. Norris: Clarendon

    James Homer Norris of Clarendon died Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Hock Family Pavilion, Duke Hospice Center, in Durham. He was 69.
    Born in Columbus County, he was the son of the late John Homer Norris and Lula Long Norris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
    He is survived by his wife, Sonja Todd Norris of Clarendon; two sons, James Kevin Norris of Oak Island and Todd Christopher Norris of Charleston; a sister, Martha Chaplin of Colorado Springs, Col.; one granddaughter, Amanda Brisson Norris of Tabor City; father-in-law H. B. Todd of Clarendon; and brother-in-law Ray Allen of Charlotte Hall, Md.
    Mr. Norris was a graduate of North Carolina State University. He was a member of the Tabor City Baptist Church. During his membership he founded The Helping Hands Ministry and served as a Deacon, Baptist Men’s President, RA Director, Sunday School Teacher and Brotherhood Director.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Tabor City Baptist Church, with burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service, in Tabor City Baptist Church.
