Jack Hickman, Jr.: Loris

     Jack Hickman, Jr. of Loris passed away Sunday, March 2, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach. He was 71.
    Born Jan. 2, 1943 in Loris, he was the son of the late Jack Hickman Sr. and the late Leola Strickland Hickman. Mr. Hickman retired from Lance Inc. but will be remembered most for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed witnessing to people in both his personal life and as an active member of the Gideon’s International, he was an avid fisherman and a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his wife, Daphine Gause Hickman of the home; two daughters, Jeanne Hickman Pennington and husband, Gary of Columbia, and Jamie Hickman Brigham and husband, Chris of Myrtle Beach; four grandchildren, Jordan, Cle and Leah Pennington and Walker Brigham; and his sister, Betty Rose Shepherd and husband, Dial of Columbus Ohio.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Hickman was predeceased by one sister, Annie Ruth Lewis.
    Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Mack Hutson and Reverend Ragsdale Allsbrook officiating. Committal services followed at Cherry Hill Cemetery.
