Charles “Charlie” Soles: Longs

    Charles “Charlie” Soles passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 7. He was 55.
    Charlie grew up in Tabor City. He was the son of Euclid and Edith Soles of Tabor City. His father preceded him in death in 2012.
    Charlie was a member of Camp Swamp United Methodist Church. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Charlie had a heart of gold, generous spirit, and a love for his family that was immeasurable. He was a man of incredible strength. Charlie kept a smile on his face and was always ready to do for others, even when he was not physically able.
    Charlie leaves behind a loving wife, Melissa Butler Soles of Longs, who together have weathered many storms and a love that withstood all; daughter, Jessica Soles of Wilmington, who blessed his life immensely and made sure everyone knew it; Edith Soles, his beloved mother, who Charlie dedicated much of his life caring for and to whom he loved deeply; his brothers, Mike Soles and his wife Deborah of Tabor City, and Jimmy Soles and his wife Jill of High Point; his sister, Marcia Anderson and her husband Clyde “Shorty” of Tabor City; and numerous family and friends who he loved and cared for deeply.
    A celebration of Charlie’s life was planned for 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at Camp Swamp United Methodist Church, with committal services following in the Butler Cemetery. The family planned to receive friends following the service, in the church fellowship hall.
