Carnival for a Cure cancer patient benefit Saturday

Carnival for a Cure, a fundraising effort to benefit Melissa Bullard White and Leah Starnes, is this Saturday in downtown Tabor City.
Scheduled from 10 a.m. through 3 p.m., the event will be held at Carolina Girls Studio, 103 West 5th Street in Tabor City.
Barbecue plates will be on sale for $6 each. Baked goods, snow cones, cotton candy and popcorn will also be on sale. A bouncy house and face painting will be among the activities for children.
All proceeds will benefit White, a local woman recently diagnosed with cancer, and Starnes, an 8-year-old from the Pireway Community who has been undergoing treatment for leukemia since last November.
Leah’s Treasure Chest
Another fund raising effort for Starnes is scheduled in two locations on Saturday, May 3.
Leah’s Treasure Chest, a community yard sale, is planned from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on NC 905 across from the Forest Service fire tower, and on NC 904 at Canady Farms.
Baked goods will also be available for purchase, all to benefit TEAM Leah.
