A fallen officer remembered

A wreath laying marked the 10th anniversary of the death of Shane Miller, a Tabor City Police Department officer who lost his life in an auto crash during his first day on the job.
Sheriff Lewis Hatcher and Sgt. John Lewis of the North Carolina Highway Patrol laid the wreath as Miller’s parents, Tony and Sue Miller, were joined by police, deputies and fire and rescue representatives in the brief ceremony at Miller’s grave site at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Peace Officers Memorial Day is also being observed across the United States today.
