Memorial Day observances set in the TLC

A pair of Memorial Day observances in the Tabor-Loris Community this weekend will pay tribute to those who have served this nation and paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Observances will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Twin City Memorial Gardens, and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Veteran’s Monument adjacent to the Tabor City Public Library.
Twin City
State Sen. Greg Hembree is the scheduled speaker for the Twin City observance, with special singing set from Anne Jernigan.
Others scheduled to take part are members of American Legion Honor Guard Post 186, American Legion Post 507 and VFW Post 6064 of Tabor City, American Legion Post 41 of Loris, the Loris High School JROTC, and Boy Scouts of America Troop 525.
In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Twin City Mausoleum.
Twin City Memorial Gardens is located at 1830 Hwy 701 North, Loris, between Loris and Tabor City.

Tabor City
American Legion Post 507 and VFW Post 6064 will host the Tabor City observance.
Columbus County Commissioner Amon McKenzie is the scheduled speaker. His comments will follow a POW/MIA ceremony lead by Legion Adjutant David Harrelson, and precede the placing of the memorial wreath by Harrelson and Maurice Graham.
Others scheduled to take part are VFW Commander Michael Graham, Legion Chaplain William Higginbotham, VFW Quartermaster David Corbett, W.H. Morris, and members of the South Columbus High School JROTC and Band.
Refreshments will be offered by members of the VFW Auxiliary.
