Shelton Dothan Shelley: Green Sea

Shelton Dothan Shelley of Green Sea passed away Sunday, May 25, at McLeod Loris hospital following an illness. He was 84.
Mr. Shelley was born May 7, 1930 in Green Sea, a son of Mr. James Porter Shelley and Mrs. Annie Vance Clemmons Shelley. He retired from Myrtle Beach High School Career Center after 22 years of working as a welding instructor. He was an avid fisherman, a devoted Gamecock fan and a member of Green Sea Baptist Church but will be most remembered as a loving brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his three sons, Thelton Shelley and wife, Vickie of Nichols, Tony Shelley and wife, Donna of Green Sea, and Perry Shelley and wife Annette of Myrtle Beach; two daughters, Robin Haithcock and husband, Albert of Mt. Gilead, and Joye Smith of Columbia; a sister, Annie Lois Johnson of Green Sea; eight grandchildren, Ryan and Justin Shelley, Lori Pate, Hope Sarvis, Holley Sellers, Morgan Gore, and Taylor and Logan Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Brittany, Madison, and Zack Shelley, Jacquelyn and Shelley Sellers, Gannon and Savannah Sarvis, and Chelsie and Courtney Grainger.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Shelley was predeceased by his wife, Betty June Bolton Shelley; brothers, Clyde Lewis Shelley, W.J. Shelley, Leamon Shelley, and Dayton Shelley; and a sister, Meekie Huggins.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at Green Sea Baptist Church with Pastor Jerry Phillips officiating, with committal services following at Green Sea Cemetery. Visitation was planned for the hour before the service, at Green Sea Baptist Church.
