Ella Mae Strickland Harrelson: Loris

    Ella Mae Strickland Harrelson of Loris passed away Monday, May 26 at Roper Hospital in Charleston following an illness. She was 86.
    Mrs. Harrelson was born Dec. 31, 1927 in Tabor City, a daughter of Mr. Alva Strickland and Mrs. Polly Elizabeth Foley Strickland. Mrs. Harrelson was a loving homemaker and worked for many years as a garment inspector with Marlene Industries. As a longtime and dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, she taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a member of the choir, but will be most remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
    Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara Sue Harrelson and Diane Bellamy and husband, Layne all of Loris, and Wendy Parker and husband, David of Aynor; one grandchild, Polly Bellamy Elliott and husband, Randy of Georgetown, and two great-grandchildren, Otis Elliott of Georgetown, and Emma Caroline Brooks and husband, Justin of Jacksonville, NC; a faithful loving sister-in-law, Pensalee Powell Harrelson and many loving nieces and nephews.
    In addition to her parents, Mrs. Harrelson was predeceased by her husband, Zola M. Harrelson; six brothers, Rufus, Berbie, Thomas, Horace, Elbert and Dustin Strickland and six sisters, Flossie S. Hodge, Suzanna S. Greenwood, Mary Pauline S. Strickland, Missouri S. Buffkin, Bernice S. Strickland and Arlene S. Strickland.
    Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Pastor David Watts and Rev. Bill Thompson officiating. Committal services followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
