A man inside the law office of former state Sen. R.C. Soles Jr. died Thursday afternoon after complaining of chest pains and shortness of breath, Capt. Russell Conway of the Tabor City Police Department said.
Barry Scott, 47, of Holland Street, Chadbourn, was rushed by ambulance to McLeod Loris hospital after losing consciousness inside the Live Oak Street offices, and was pronounced dead soon after arriving at the hospital, Columbus County Coroner Linwood Cartrette said.
Scott had a history of lung disease and other medical problems, and was in poor health, Cartrette said.
