Mercer Road shop fire claims several vehicles

Fire that appeared to begin inside a shop at the Tommy Hobbs home off of Mercer Road north of Roseland Monday afternoon destroyed the structure and numerous vehicles parked in and around it.
“I only has insurance on one,” Hobbs said of the vehicles.
Hobbs was summoned from his work in Fair Bluff, and when he arrived firefighters from the Roseland and Klondyke volunteer fire departments were at work extinguishing the blaze.
Several children inside the home, which was briefly threatened by the blaze before firefighters got to work, were evacuated.
A boat and at least one four-wheeler were lost, in addition to trucks and cars inside the building, Hobbs said.
