Charles Tompkins: High Point

    Charles Tompkins of High Point died Monday, June 30, 2014 in the Genesis Triad Nursing Home in High Point. He was 86.
    Born in Columbus County Nov. 22, 1927, he was the son of the late Ernest and Ida Bell Mew Tompkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Dora Reba Cartrette Tompkins and a daughter, Mary Katherine Thompkins.
    He is survived by two daughters, Gail Thompkins of Thomasville, and Mandy Griffin of High Point; three sons, L.P. Thompkins of Winston Salem, Charles Thompkins Jr., Danville, Va., and Earl Wayne Thompkins of Thomasville; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, in Inman & Ward Funeral Home in Tabor City.
    Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, in Inman & Ward Funeral Home, with burial following in Clarendon Cemetery.
