Retha Mae Stroud Bellamy: Loris

    Retha Mae Stroud Bellamy of Loris entered into eternal rest Saturday, July 19, at the Medical University of South Carolina following a brief illness. She was 83.
    Mrs. Bellamy was born Sept. 30, 1930, in Green Sea, a daughter of the late William Bertie Stroud and the late Rose Anna Strickland Stroud. She retired as a nurse after 30 years in the profession, working first at the McLeod Infirmary in Florence and last at the Loris Community Hospital.
    She was predeceased by her husband, James R. Bellamy, Sr.; six brothers, Von Stroud, Honrea Stroud, Ellery Stroud, Dafus Stroud, Ceph Stroud, and Vernon Stroud; and three sisters, Anna Lois Stroud, Kitty Dozier, and Rosa Lee Kotelly.
    Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Boyd and Cindy Stevens, both of Loris; three stepsons, James R. Bellamy, Jr. of Longs, William Larry Bellamy of Loris, and Mark S. Bellamy of Ninety Six; a stepdaughter, LeRhonda Byrd of Travelers Rest; two sisters, Bernice Norris of Tabor City and Louise Stroud of Loris; one brother, Robert Clayton Stroud of Rock Hill; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
    Visitation was planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, in the sanctuary at Buck Creek Baptist Church, with a service to follow at 11 a.m. and burial following in the church cemetery, with Rev. Alvin Jackson and Rev. Jon Johnson officiating.
