Willa Mae Garrell Ray: Tabor City

    Willa Mae Garrell Ray of Tabor City died Monday, July 28, in Autumn Care in Shallotte. She was 87.
    She was born June 26, 1927 in Columbus County to the late Hosea McCray and Olivia Hewett Garrell. She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert Faxon Ray; and two brothers, Bruce and Willard Garrell.
    She is survived by four daughters, Gail Harrelson (Ben) of Conway, Gloria Buffkin Newton of Timberlake, Cheryl Umbaugh (John) of Greensboro, Dawn Player (Mark) of Tabor City; one sister, Annie Ruth Stanley of Tabor City; six grandchildren; six step grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
    The family would like to thank the staff at Autumn Care of Shallotte for their love, support and special care.
    Funeral Services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in Iron Hill Baptist Church, Tabor City with burial following in the Spivey Cemetery, Tabor City.
    Visitation will was planned for one hour prior to the service in the Iron Hill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Autumn Care of Shallotte, 237 Mulberry St. Shallotte, NC 28470 or Iron Hill Baptist Church, 24320 Peacock Rd, Tabor City, NC 28463.
