Mamie Paul Rhodes Stoudenmire: Loris

    Mamie Paul Rhodes Stoudenmire of Loris died Sunday, July 27 at McLeod Loris hospital after an extended illness. She was 89.
    She was born in Estill, Hampton County on April 28, 1925.
    She was the last surviving child born to the late Julian Edgar Rhodes and Ellen Britton Rhodes. Her siblings were Daniel Benjamin Rhodes, Mary Marguerite R. Kittles, Julian Edgar Rhodes, Jr., Hugh Britton Rhodes, Addie Gertrude Rhodes, Thomas Wright Rhodes, Mary Alice R. Rogers, John Jenkins Rhodes, James Fickling Rhodes, Milton Theodore Rhodes, Julia Ellen R. Holyfield and David Rhodes.
    She was the wife of the late David Edward (Ed) Stoudenmire, Sr.; the mother of Linda S. Thompson of Sanford, Ellen S. Sellars of Mullins, and David E. Stoudenmire, Jr. of Loris; the grandmother of Brian G. Smith of Pittsboro, John Paul Sellars of Lexington, Caroline S. Counts of Hendersonville, and Julia S. Drennen of Quantico, Virginia; the great grandmother of Mikayla L. Smith and Dakota J. Smith of Pittsboro, Brayton Dean Nobles of Quantico, Virginia, and Clark Edward Counts of Hendersonville; a very special and dear friend, Jacquelyn Mishoe of Loris; and her caregiver and friend for many years, Joan Griffin of Loris. She leaves behind many friends who will forever cherish her memory.
    Mrs. Stoudenmire, a nurse by trade was also a homemaker, a member of Loris First United Methodist Church, the Loris Garden Club and other Christian circles and worked in civic affairs throughout her life.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, at 3912 Bryant Street in Loris.
    Services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Loris First United Methodist Church. Burial services were planned for 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 Lawtonville Cemetery in Estill.
