James Robert Norris, Sr.: Loris

    James Robert “Shorty” Norris, Sr. of Loris passed away Sunday, Aug. 10 at his home following an illness. He was 68.
    Mr. Norris was born April 8, 1946 in Loris, a son of the late Mr. Robert Lee Norris and Mrs. Iva Dean Cox Norris.
    Mr. Norris worked as a brick mason and was of the Baptist faith.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
    Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Wanda Norris of the home; two sons, James R. Norris, Jr. and wife, Debbie and Kevin Collel Norris, all of Loris; a daughter, Susan Ann Lamb and fiancé, Charlie Todd of Loris; five grandchildren, April Marie Norris, Eric Mitchell Norris, Kevin Nicholas Norris, Tyler Joshua Lamb and Charley Haiden Todd; a brother, Frank Norris and wife, Ernestine of Loris, SC; and two sisters, Christine N. Strickland and Sandra Kay Causey, both of Loris.
    In addition to his parents, Mr. Norris was preceded in death by one sister, Estaline Norris Rhodes.
    Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. Committal services followed at Old Springfield Cemetery.
