Richard Parlett Caines, Sr.: Loris

Richard Parlett Caines, Sr. of Loris passed away Monday, Aug. 11 at the Medical University of Charleston following an illness. He was 71.
Born on Oct. 23, 1942 in Loris, he was the son of the late Parlett Tillman Caines and the late Dessie Canada Caines.
Mr. Caines served his country with courage and honor in the US Army during Vietnam. Mr. Caines worked for thirty years with the AVX Corporation and upon retiring he started Land Works Inc. specializing in construction until his second retirement. Mr. Caines was a longtime active member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served in numerous capacities throughout his life but will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Causey Caines of the home; his son, Rick Caines, Jr. (Blair) of North Myrtle Beach; his daughter, Amanda Richelle Caines of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren, Jillian and Jackson Caines both of North Myrtle Beach; one brother, William Royce Caines (Cary) of Seneca; and four sisters, Flora C. Carroll (Jim) of Aiken, Rachel C. Kisiah of Florence, Loretta C. Peele (Charlie) of Gainesville, Fla., and Melba C. Payne (Sam) of Charlotte.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Rogers and Rev. Thelton Powell officiating. Committal services followed at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
