Delco man killed in Nakina motorcycle crash

A single-vehicle motorcycle crash killed a Delco man in Nakina, and seriously injured his wife, just before noon Monday, Columbus County Assistant Coroner William Hannah said.
Edward Lewis, 63, of the 200 block of Livingston Hill Road in Delco, lost control of his motorcycle in a left hand curve on in the 13000 block of NC 905, near S.P. Long Road, Hannah said.
Lewis’ 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle left the right side of the highway, throwing both Lewis and his wife, Faye Lewis, 59, into the front yard of a home, Trooper S.S. Floyd of the North Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Edward Lewis died at the crash site, Hannah said. Faye Lewis was taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Healthcare in Whiteville with injuries to her leg that did not appear to be life threatening, Floyd said.
Edward Lewis was not speeding, and alcohol did not appear to be involved, Floyd said.
“It looked like he just drifted off the highway,” Floyd said.
