Barney Fussel Strickland: Green Sea

    Barney Fussel Strickland of Green Sea, died Friday, Oct. 10, in his home. He was 93.
    He was born Oct. 8, 1921 in Horry County to the late Carl Bruce Strickland and Alice Irene Johnson Strickland.
     In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by wife, Elneata Fowler Strickland; one daughter, Amy Ruth Strickland; four brothers, McLeod Strickland, Wallace “Pete” Strickland, Walter Ned Strickland, Carlyle Strickland; and one sister, Bliss Jolly.
    He is survived by his wife Mary Frances Strickland of Loris; three sons, Alfred “Al” Strickland (Joyce) of Dalzell, South Carolina, Arnold Strickland (Ella) of Fall Branch, Tennessee, Lyle Strickland (Dianne) of Green Sea; one brother, Marshal G. Strickland of Greensboro, North Carolina; one sister, Blannie Watson of Richmond, Virginia; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.  
    Mr. Strickland was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he was a P.O.W. during World War II.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.
    Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12 in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City, with burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Tabor City.
    Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.
