Bertus Carson King: Clinton
Bertus Carson King of Clinton died Wednesday, Oct. 22 at Sampson Regional Medical Center. He was 85.
Mr. King, born in 1929 in Duplin County, was the son of the late Arthur Paul King and Pauline Wilson King.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Lee Thorpe King; and a sister, Elizabeth Honeycutt.
Mr. King was the former Mayor of Tabor City, former Chief of Police of Tabor City, a retired Department of Motor Vehicle Officer and a Security Agent in the Healthcare industry.
He is survived by children, Sherrill King of Emporia, Virginia, Wanda Guy and husband Dennis of Faison, and Scott King of Clinton; grandchildren, Collin and Austin King, Bradley Knight, and Brent and Wayne Guy; brother, Doug King and wife Dot of Clinton; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home, with the Reverend Dennis Guy officiating, with interment following in the Grandview Memorial Park, 2809 N. US Hwy 421, Clinton.
The family planned to receive friends one hour prior to the service at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his daughter, at 782 Burch Road, Faison.
