Leamon Belton Locklear: Tabor City

    Leamon Belton “Sammy” Locklear of Tabor City died Wednesday, Oct. 29 at McLeod Loris hospital. He was 69.
    He was the son of the late Belton and Agnes Evelene Soles Locklear. Mr. Locklear was preceded in death by a sister, Earlene Powell.
    He was a veteran of the US Army serving in Vietnam. Mr. Locklear operated the City BP in Tabor City for 40 years.
    A graveside service was planned for 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31 at the King Dillie/Locklear Cemetery (3223 Old Cribbtown Road, Chadbourn) with Reverend Timmy Locklear officiating.
    Survivors include his wife, Shelva Cartrette Locklear of the home; two daughters, Angelia Renee Fowler of Chadbourn and Christy Locklear Cartrette of Whiteville; two brothers, Roy Locklear and Roger Locklear, both of Tabor City; two sisters, Alene Long and Carrie Kernodle both of Tabor City; four grandchildren.
