Ruth Gore Banker: Elm City
Ruth Gore Banker of Elm City died Friday morning Nov. 7 at her residence. She was 85.
Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late William Frank Gore and Isabelle Soles Gore and was the widow of William Edgar Banker.
Ruth, known as “Granny” to her family and friends, was a member of Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg and was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Wilson.
A graveside service was planned for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 conducted by Rev. Tom Watkins in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.
The family planned to receive friends 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home in Wilson.
She is survived by daughters, Karen B. Fleming of Wilson, Donna B. Webb of Bailey, Cindy B. Hamm and husband Brad of Elm City, and Summer B. Dorton and husband Michael of Goose Creek; one sister, Cynthia G. Graham and husband Ronnie of Tabor City; two brothers, Royce L. Gore and Lloyd Gene Gore and wife Patricia of Tabor City; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Gore and her sons-in-law, James Fleming and Wofford Webb.
