Ernest Hewett: Tabor City

    Ernest Hewett died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 in McLeod Loris hospital. He was 84.
    Born Dec. 29, 1929 in New Hanover County, he was the son of the late Henry J. Hewett and Anna Milligan Hewett.
    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Rodriguez Hewett; a son, David Hewett; two brothers, Norman Hewett and Sink Hewett; five sisters, Kathleen Williamson, Irene Suggs, Lena Lee, Dorothy McDowell, and Myrtle Jones.
    He is survived by two daughters: Ann Strickland of Mount Olive, and Hilda Suggs of Tabor City; six grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
    Mr. Hewett was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served more than 21 years with service during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.
    Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City, with burial following in Sandy Plain Cemetery, Tabor City.
    Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service in the Inman Ward Chapel.
