Robbery, cutting reported in TC
By DEUCE NIVEN
Officers are investigating reports from a local man who says he was cut during a robbery Thursday night, Det. Greg Sibbett of the Tabor City Police Department said Friday.
Shyqjuan Montrel Hemingway, 21, of West 3rd Street, told police he was at the Evans Pointe Apartments complex about 9 p.m. Thursday, behind the wheel of his car on Essie Mae Court, when he and a passenger were approached by two men who robbed them, Sibbett said.
Hemingway said he was attacked during the robbery, and received cuts to his left hand and forearm, a cut behind his left ear, and a small prick in the ribcage area, Sibbett said.
His injuries did not appear life threatening, Sibbett said, and Hemingway was taken by Tabor City Emergency Services ambulance to McLeod Loris hospital.
Hemingway said his attackers fled on foot behind the apartments. A K-9 from the Fair Bluff Police Department assisted Tabor City officers, and lost the trail at U.S. 701, Sibbett said.
Anyone with any information on the case is asked to contact the Tabor City Police Department, Sibbett said.
