Frances Gideon Caldwell: Wilmington

Frances Gideon Caldwell of Wilmington, died Friday, Dec. 12, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. She was 90.
Frances was born May 8, 1924 in Tabor City, daughter of the late Sam Thomas Gore and Ruth Cox Gore.
Her first husband, Stephen Andrew Gideon (1986), and four brothers, Lewis, Ralph, Sam T., and McRoy Gore, preceded her in death.
Frances was the owner and operator of the Sterling House Gift & Jewelry Store from 1955-1990, and taught at Winter Park Elementary School for 30 years. She was a member of Pine Valley United Methodist Church and a Charter Member of ADK Alpha Psi International Teacher Sorority where she was also a Silver Sister.
She is survived by her husband, Hugh T. Caldwell, Sr.; daughter, Serena Crumley of Hilton Head Island; grandchildren, Fran Crumley Thacker and husband, Dr. Chad Thacker, of Pikeville, Kentucky, and David Crumley and wife, Ari, of Atlanta, Georgia; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Grace Thacker, Emma Kate Thacker, and Sam Crumley III; and brother, Paul Gore of Tabor City.
Visitation was planned from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel, 1617 Market Street in Wilmington.
A funeral service was planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Pine Valley United Methodist Church, 3788 Shipyard Blvd., Wilmington, with interment following at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Frances may be made to Pine Valley United Methodist Church, 3788 Shipyard Boulevard, Wilmington, NC 28403.
