Teen dies a week after crash that claims his brother

By DEUCE NIVEN

A pre-Christmas crash that claimed a Loris man riding with his younger brother claimed the teen on Tuesday, Horry County Coroner Robert Edge Jr. confirmed.
Miles Waddell, 17 and a senior at Loris High School, died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach a week after the Dec. 22 wreck that claimed his brother, Christopher Lee Waddell, 26.
Both were well known members of a family active in the civic life of Loris. Christopher had worked for the city’s recreation department, Miles was a nominee for outstanding youth at last year’s Loris Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Miles Waddell was at the wheel of his 2007 Jeep Cherokee, northbound on Red Bluff Road, when a southbound 1998 Ford Explorer crossed the center line, slamming head-on into the Jeep, killing its front seat passenger, said Corp. Sonny Collins of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Craig Austin Livingston, 32 of Loris, was arrested within hours of last week’s crash, booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center near Conway at 1:20 a.m. last Tuesday morning, jail records show. He remained there this week.
Funeral services for Christopher Waddell were held Sunday. See the obituary here.
