Thomas Ethell Tyler: Loris

    Thomas Ethell Tyler of Loris passed away Monday, Dec. 29. He was 81.
    Mr. Tyler was born in Loris, a son of the late John Frank Tyler and the late Annie Suggs Tyler.  He was an Army MP, served in Korea and retired as Market Manager with Winn-Dixie.  Mr. Tyler was owner of Tyler’s Strawberry Farm and was a member of Cane Branch Baptist Church where he served as Church Secretary, Trustee, and Deacon.  
    He was predeceased by his first wife, Martha Bell Tyler; son, Danny Tyler; and three brothers, John Tyler, James “Buddy” Tyler and Winston Tyler.
    Survivors include his wife, Jenette J. Tyler of the home; four children, Julie T. Gerald and her husband Marcus of Loris, Marty Tyler and his wife Denese (favorite daughter-in-law) of Loris, Jane Elliott and her husband Keith of Nichols, and Clayton Moore Tyler of Loris; stepsons Earl Moore, Jr. and his wife Glenda, Frank Moore and his wife Cindy, Chris Moore and his wife Sandy, Charlie Moore, Eddie Moore and his wife Stacey, and Kirk Moore and his wife Kristen; two sisters, Carolyn Williams and her husband John Henry of Dillon and Eloise Jackson and her husband Jay of Dillon; eight grandchildren, Faith Gerald, Lindsey Gerald, Justin Tyler and his wife Kasey, Laura Tyler, Hope Elliott, Morgan Elliott, Brooke Elliott and Keith “Bubba” Elliott; one great-grandchild, Raelynn Tyler; nine step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Molly.
    Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
    Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015 at Cane Branch Baptist Church with Preacher Jon Johnson and Rev. Alvin Jackson officiating, burial following in the church cemetery.
