Sought for two weeks in the theft of more than $29,000 worth of jewelry in Bolivia last month, Douglas Wilson Branton is in custody, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Emily Flax said Monday evening.
Branton, 30, whose last known address is Nathan Drive, Loris, was taken into custody Saturday and booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center near Conway.
He waived extradition proceedings and returned with detectives to Brunswick County on Monday, booked into the Brunswick County Detention Facility under a $20,000 bond.
Branton is charged with felony larceny in the Dec. 3, 2014 theft of 48 items of jewelry from the Bolivia home of Mary Ellen Presgraves, a warrant said. – Deuce Niven
