SUNDAY UPDATE
Law enforcement and volunteers searching for a missing Longs man are asking for help from those near where he was last seen.
Anyone with property, storage buildings, barns, vehicles, or any other structure where Danny Atkins might have sought refuge on Tuesday, Jan. 20 or later is asked to look through that property, and to call law enforcement if the man is found, Lt. Greg Sibbett of the Tabor City Police Department.
Atkins, 63, of Longs, was last seen about 9:30 a.m. near Food Lion and Forest Edge Apartments in Tabor City, a day after his disabled Toyota pick-up truck was pushed off the highway nearby.
More than 100 volunteers aiding the Wilmington based CUE Center for Missing Persons searched the area on Saturday, on horseback, using four-wheelers, and with K-9 tracking assistance, without success, Sibbett said.
A smaller group continued the search on Sunday, as CUE Center Director Monica Caison issued the call for help from the public, Sibbett said.
Anyone who saw Atkins on Jan. 19 or 20, or since then, or with information regarding where he may have gone, is asked to call the Horry County Police Department at 843-248-1520, the Tabor City Police Department at 910-653-3149, 911, or their local law enforcement agency.
