Daniel “Danny” Lewis Blackburn: Loris

    Daniel “Danny” Lewis Blackburn of Loris, age 64, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11 at his home following an illness. He was 64.
    Mr. Blackburn was born July 31, 1950 in Loris, a son of the late Mr. Dossie Mercherson Blackburn and the late Mrs. Daisy Dawsey Blackburn. Mr. Blackburn was a retired painter and of the Baptist faith.
     Survivors include his wife of nearly 46 years, Dianne C. Blackburn, of the home; two daughters, Becky B. McDowell and husband, John Stafford and Barbara Gayle Blackburn Cetin and husband, Hakan, all of Loris;  three loving grandsons, Steven Blackburn, Daniel Stafford and Thomas Roberts, all of Loris; one brother, Franklin “Frank” Blackburn and wife, Deborah, of Loris; one sister, Lorry Blackburn Sarvis and husband, Tim, of Loris; his sister-in-law, Annie Mae B. Causey, of Loris, and many loving nieces and nephews.
     In addition to his parents, Mr. Blackburn was predeceased by two brothers, Roger Dale Blackburn and Jimmy Mercherson Blackburn.
     The family sends a heartfelt thank you to everyone at Amedisys Healthcare and Physical Therapy Group and Lower Cape Fear Hospice Mercy Care. Their love, support and tremendous care given will not be forgotten.
     Funeral services were held 3 p.m on Sunday, Feb. 15 at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Mark Slomka officiating.
