School delays in Columbus, Horry Thursday

Extreme cold temperatures forecast for Thursday morning have prompted school delays in both Columbus and Horry counties.
Students will report to most of the Columbus County Schools at 10 a.m. Thursday, with the exception of the Columbus Career and College Academy, which will open at 11 a.m. Faculty and staff are to report at 9 a.m.
Whiteville City Schools will be on a two-hour delay Thursday.
Horry County schools will operate on a two-hour delay Thursday, with faculty and staff to report at their usual time, and to provide supervision for students who are brought to school by car in order to accommodate their parents’ work schedule.
Students in the Columbus County Schools will have the day off Friday, due to a previously scheduled teacher’s work day. There has been no announcement regarding opening bell for the Horry County Schools on Friday.
Updates on schedules will be posted here as they become available. Look for a story on the frigid weather in next Wednesday’s Tabor-Loris Tribune in print and online.
