Reward offered in year-old murder

By DEUCE NIVEN

A new reward has been offered in a year-old murder case, Maj. Bobby Worley of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
Family members of Richard Jason McPherson have put up $5,000 in reward money for information leading to an arrest in his Feb. 2, 2014 murder, Worley said.
McPherson, who was 29 and lived in the 900 block of Mollie Road, Clarendon, was found in his care about 4:30 p.m. that afternoon, on Swamp Fox Hwy East at Kenny Jordan Road. Three children were in the car, but unhurt.
Investigators determined that the shooting took place in the 500 block of Pine Circle Drive in the Green Acres community.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Det. Jason Soles at the Columbus County Sherriff’s Office at 910-642-6551.
