Citizen complaints prompted the investigation that resulted in the arrest this week of a man believed responsible for distributing crack cocaine in the Whiteville and Brunswick areas of Columbus County, Lt. Steven Worthington of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
Corey Michael McDougald, 43, of 111 Fairfield Village, Whiteville, was charged with two felony counts of sale and delivery of a schedule 2 controlled substance, Worthington said in a news release.
Detectives focused their probe on areas including the Mill Pond Road community that connects Brunswick and South Whiteville, and undercover deputies purchased crack cocaine, Worthington said.
More area crime reports may be seen in next Wednesday’s Tabor-Loris Tribune in print and online.
