Alice Sarvis Hedgecoe: Tabor City

    Alice Sarvis Hedgecoe of Tabor City, died Sunday, March 1, in McLeod Loris hospital, Loris. She was 95.
    She was the wife of the late Lee Berton Hedgecoe Jr. They were married for 54 years. She was the daughter of the late Marsdell Cornelius and Frances Anderson Sarvis.
    Survivors include two sons, Sarvis Joel Hedgecoe and wife Margaret of Fayetteville and Lee Perritt Hedgecoe and wife Beth of Eastover; four grandchildren, David Hedgecoe and wife Claire, Anne Smith and husband Todd, Elizabeth Neyle and husband Edmund, Berton Hedgecoe and wife Brittany; five great-grandchildren, Garrett and Barnes Smith; Andrew, Hunter, and Ryan Hedgecoe.
    Mrs. Hedgecoe was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Eugenia Jordan, Woodrow Sarvis, Martha Bruton, and M.C. Sarvis Jr.
    Mrs. Hedgecoe worked for 52 years in a business founded by her father. She was the bookkeeper at MC Sarvis Co. and Carolina Packing House Supplies until age 93. She was pianist for her church in Washington, D.C. and her Sunday School Class in Tabor City. She was a lifetime member of Tabor City Baptist Church. She loved visiting the beach and spending time with her family. Mrs. Alice loved to cook and feed her friends and family.
    A graveside service was planned for noon today, Wednesday, March 4, in Myrtle Green Cemetery, 1004 Stake Road, Tabor City. Visitation was to follow with a meal in the Tabor City Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
