Avery Hamilton: Conway
Avery Hamilton of Conway passed away Tuesday, March 10. He was 64.
He was born in Conway, a son of the late Mack Avery Hamilton II and the late Bernice Bullock Hamilton.
He was a devoted and active member of Good Hope Baptist Church where he was a former deacon for many years. He was the Brotherhood Director, a former Leader of RA’s, a former Teacher of the Fulton Sunday School Class, and served on various church committees.
Avery retired from Santee Cooper and worked for Family Care Medical Supply. He was a 40-year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a current member of Nichols Masonic Lodge #83 where he served as Past Master. He was currently serving as Chaplin of the Nichols Masonic Lodge.
Avery was a member of the Omar Shrine Temple and a member of Loris Chapter #106 Order of the Eastern Star. He worked on mission projects with Waccamaw Baptist Association Disaster Relief and conducted Prison Ministry.
Avery was always seeking different areas and ways to minister to others. He loved helping others.
Avery was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing the river as well as camping.
He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Leonard Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Linda McNeill Hamilton of the home; three children, Michelle H. Cook and her husband Benjy, Joseph M. Hamilton and his wife Suzy all of Conway, and Matthew A. Hamilton and his wife Donna of Aynor; and five grandchildren, Ramsey Cook, Raleigh Cook, Autumn Hamilton, Price Hamilton, and Archer Hamilton
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 13, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. John Sullivan officiating. Committal services, with Masonic Rites, were planned in Hamilton Cemetery.
