Ruth Stanley Suggs Cox: Loris

Ruth Stanley Suggs Cox of Loris., passed away Sunday, March 15 at her home following an illness. She was 92.
Mrs. Cox was born on July 13, 1922 in Mollie, a daughter of Mr. James Bethel Stanley and Mrs. Minnie Ray Stanley. Mrs. Cox retired as a dietitian from Loris Elementary School after 33 years of service and was a longtime member of the Loris First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Melinda Faye Porter of Loris; grandson, Jason Porter and wife, Elizabeth of Loris; five loving great-grandchildren, Jacob, Victoria, Elena, Carolina and Lealah Porter; two sisters, Velma Haseldon of Johnsonville, and Eula Mae Housand of Wilmington.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Cox was predeceased by her first husband, L. S. Suggs; her second husband, Leo Cox; her son-in-law, Audie A. Porter; two brothers, Leamon Bethel Stanley and Clyde Stanley and two sisters, Gertrude Griffith and Ethel Stanley Richardson.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at the Loris First Baptist Church with Dr. Louis A. B. Venable and Dr. Jim Mezick officiating. Committal services followed in Twin City Memorial Gardens.
