Vernon Dale Spivey: Tabor City

    Vernon Dale Spivey of Tabor City passed away Wednesday, May 13 at his home in Tabor City following an illness. He was 78.
    Mr. Spivey was born on March 3, 1937 in Loris, a son of Mr. Daniel Leamon Spivey and Mrs. Ruth Cox Spivey.
    Mr. Spivey was a retired machinist with General Motors and a longtime member of Oak Dale Baptist Church.
 Survivors include his brother, Rev. Edward Spivey and wife, Maxine of Loris; four sisters, Sylvia Ferguson of Myrtle Beach, Willa Dean Williams of Tabor City, Laverne Graham and husband, Maurice “Pop,” of Loris, and Christine Saylor and husband, William of Baltimore, Maryland; granddaughter, Angel Hilburn and husband Gary Dale Hilburn, Jr. and two great grandsons, Dillon and Troy Hilburn, all of Tabor City.
     In addition to his parents, Mr. Spivey was predeceased by his wife, Lois Duncan Spivey, his brother, Donnie Spivey and his sister, Lorine S. Jordan.
     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16 at Oak Dale Baptist Church with Pastor Waties McLeod officiating. Committal services followed at Oak Dale Cemetery.
