U. V. Sellers: Whiteville

U. V. Sellers of Whiteville died Thursday, May 28, in Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, Whiteville. He was 86.
He was born August 9, 1928, the son of the late Furnie Sellers and Ruth Fowler Sellers.
Mr. Sellers was a veteran of the US Army. He formerly was manager of a Whiteville finance company. He was a member of Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Cartrette Sellers; three daughters, Judy Sellers Herring and husband, Stacy of Whiteville, Gail Sellers Lynch and husband, John of Whiteville, Sherry Sellers Smith and husband, Mitchell of Whiteville; son-in-law Allyn Elkins; sisters Peggy Sellers Montalbano and Becky Sellers Reeves, both of Raleigh; grandchildren, Brian Smith, Kelly Griffin, Stanton Smith, Lindsey Bowen, Ezra Smith, Shane Ray, Lisa Soles, Stephanie Alford, Allison Lynch, Anna Lynch; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Sellers Elkins; a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Elkins; his parents; a brother, Roy Sellers, sisters, Myrtle Sellers Thompson, Lottie Sellers Bowen, Daisy Sellers Bowen.
His funeral service with military honors was planned for 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, at Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Buddy Seay and Rev. Mitchell Smith, with burial following in Peacock’s Columbus Memorial Park.
Visitation was planned for the hour prior to the service in the church.
