A head-on crash south of the city claimed a Sellerstown Community man early Friday, Trooper M.D. Locklear of the North Carolina Highway Patrol said.
Timothy Norris, 25, of U.S. 701 in the Sellerstown area, was pronounced dead at Columbus Regional Healthcare, Columbus County Assistant Coroner William Hannah said.
Norris was southbound on NC 130 before 5:30 a.m. alone in his 1992 Honda Accord, when it went across the center-line, striking a 2007 Chevrolet pick-up truck head-on, Locklear said.
David Pate, 27, of Dallas, Texas, was alone in the truck, Locklear said. Pate suffered serious, but apparently not life threatening injuries, Locklear said.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, neither one was speeding in the 55 miles per hour zone, Locklear said.
